What we mean by “thinking space”
The importance of intelligent design is the backbone of The Tank Studio. To produce design that is not only innovative and evocative but thoughtful and layered is crucial. With today’s savvy world and the “have a go mentality” Aussies have it is important to not only create nice looking design but design that is provocative and curious to some degree.
For me it comes down to being risky and providing the client with an unexpected direction and not fall into the defined vision the client has but listen to the core content on what the business provides and the niche or point of difference it has.
Our aim for the studio is it to be an escape from the daily grind and a place where it is a joy to visit and a hub for ideas and creativity. I often get asked why “thinking space” and I guess it has to answers:
1. Because our design is thoughtful
2. The studio is not a place to make results happen but a place where the process of design is enjoyed and the results come with it!
The enjoyment of a brand new sketch pad, pencil and squishy eraser from Jackson’s novelty has not worn off in 12 years and I still buy these items at the beginning of a new branding campaign almost superstitiously these days.
